FOUNDATION AND EARLY HISTORY
The foundation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri of Porreres is owed to the generosity of a pious priest, Reverend Juan Barceló Mora former pastor of the parish church and to the excellent work of Father Francisco Molina Guardiola, C.O., who restored the order in Palma.

In his will, Juan Barceló gave a house and adjoining land in Porreres to establish the order of Saint Philip Neri there. This dynamic priest died on July 31, 1854, but the Congregación of Palma, beneficiaries of his will, troubled by a difficult situation in those days, found it necessary to postpone the new foundation until 1885. In this year the necessary work establishing the Oratory was begun in Porreres.

On November 8, 1891, the order was canonically established and quickly began the construction of the present church along with the older part of the president residence.

The work was concluded in 1911, the new church was consecrated though in fact work continued unceasingly during the following years.
